Raman is a rising star for forensic sciences. Its major advantage is in its ease of sample handling. No dilutions are required, nor does the suspect material need to be extracted from the background. You can test Raman samples through glass and plastics for contamination-free data collection. Raman complements FT-IR and can identify materials that are difficult to analyze with FT-IR. Raman microscopy also offers spatial resolution to 1 micron.
